Robert G. Hockaday - President

Robert Hockaday is the principal investigator and innovator of Energy Related Devices. He was a member of the Los Alamos National Laboratory staff from 1984 to 1994, when he took Entrepreneurial Leave of Absence to pursue full-time development of technologies for Energy Related Devices, a company he founded in 1987. Energy Related Devices has researched and developed fuel cells, solar cells, windmills, catalytic heaters, battery vents, and reactive apparel. The theme of the company is "Nature provides the models for energy solutions”.

In 1998 Energy Related Devices established a relationship with Manhattan Scientifics a publicly traded company to develop the Micro-Fuel Cell and micro-mirror solar cell technology. The Micro-Fuel Cell technology in 2005 was licensed by Energy Related Devices to a manufacturer in Singapore.

In April 2003 using goggle technology and intellectual property developed by Energy Related Devices, an eyewear company, Arena LLC, was created. Energy Related Devices has created, patented, and licensed a Membrane Catalytic Heaters to a Japanese company and two US companies.

During his tenure at Los Alamos, Mr. Hockaday was the principal investigator of projects involving the development, calibration, and analysis of high-speed x-ray diagnostic experiments on underground nuclear tests. He also conducted plasma experiments at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Livermore National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, and Triniti Laboratory in Troisk, Russia.

For his innovative research and leadership qualities, he received two Awards of                          Excellence and a Distinguished Performance Award from Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Marie A. Nava - Secretary

Marie is a co-organizer of Tucumcari Food Co-Op, a local cooperative formed to enhance accessibility to nutrient-dense food and promote local food production. She is currently serving her 2nd term as President and has been active on their Board of Directors since its inception in 2010.

Marie has been a homeschool teacher for 19 years and is currently teaching grades 1 & 11.  She is finely practiced at researching, planning and coordinating schedules and curriculum content for multiple grade levels.  While a resident of Longmont, Colorado she co-organized Longmont Home School Co-Op, a support group for homeschoolers in the area.  Therein she coordinated field trips and events for small and large groups. She acted as a steering committee, facilitator, treasurer, and publisher of the monthly newsletter.

Manager of her family run farm, Nava Ranch, she is well versed in pasture management, animal husbandry, record keeping, and financial management. She is an enthusiastic organizer and passionate about family, nutrient-dense food, sustainable agriculture and vital health.

Philip Box—Board Member

Phillip has a business administration degree from Eastern NM and has more than 20 years of experience in management including 8 years as shift production manager at the refinery.


Employment History

  • 1989-1991: Grain Power of New Mexico;  Shift Production Supervisor.  Supervised crew/oversaw production load.  Trained Crew members.  Assisted with management duties in the managers’ absence. 
  • 1983-198:  Grain Power-Tucumcari LTD;  Shift Production Supervisor. Same as above.
  • 1972-Present:  Self Employed/Farm/Ranch;  Tucumcari,  NM  Owned and operated my own farm with cow/calf operation.  Plan Production; plant, irrigate, and harvest crops.  Feed, work and care for cattle.
  • 1992-1992: Tucumcari -Chevrolet-Geo; Shop Manager.  Wrote work orders and assigned to employees, Dealt with warranty issues.  Scheduled employees.

Steve E. Morgan—Vice President
Steve has extensive management experience in private and public administration in Texas, New Mexico, and other states. Experience includes executive and frontline organizational management, government relations, marketing, community relations, network development, budgeting, construction management, and policy development. Extensive experience in healthcare delivery and health insurance field.


Employment History:

2011-2018 Owner of Bosque Consulting LLC, Governmental relations and policy consulting in the health and health insurance field.

Legislative analyst for legislation introduced during the last three years at the New Mexico Legislature, and contracted with Kuper Smith Lobbyist with emphasis on bill analysis, amendments and committee substitutes.
Contracted by New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry to consult and train chambers of commerce management and members regarding the rollout of the Affordable Care Act and its impact on small businesses and individuals.
Appointed by Governor Martinez as a board member for the New Mexico Small Business Investment Corporation. Providing support for various start-up business ventures throughout New Mexico with a budget of forty-five million dollars.

2008-2010 VP Market Operations, Physicians Health Choice Medicare Advantage Plans

The Senior Leadership team, operational management of multi-state networks, including acute and behavior health delivery systems, marketing strategy, physician relations, data systems, unit cost initiatives, and multifunctional operations for four national markets operating in Texas, New Mexico, Arkansas and Florida. Responsible for state regional directors who served as leaders of matrix management teams of the network, sales, and medical leadership in each market. Total membership was 40,000 members during last year.
